Woman Says She Was Drugged and Assaulted at Dream Hotel

A Florida businesswoman was allegedly drugged and raped at Chelsea’s Dream Downtown Hotel early Thursday morning. The victim, a 36-year-old Florida businesswoman who spoke to the New York Post about the assault, said she was having drinks at the hotel bar as she waited for a friend when a man in his 30s began flirting with her. She turned him down, and she believes he drugged her when she got up to check on her phone, which was plugged in across the room. “He never bought me a drink, but he had to have put something in my drink at that time,” she said.

The woman told the Post she recalls walking toward an elevator before blacking out. “It wasn’t like being drunk,” she said. “I don’t have blurred memory.” She woke up later in her room with her dressed pulled down and her cellphone missing. She didn’t realize she had been raped until she arrived at Roosevelt Hospital. Surveillance footage shows her assailant, “described as a 5-foot-5, 150-pound light-skinned man with brown eyes and shaggy brown hair and a crooked nose,” leaving the room with the phone and one of the victim’s business cards. The hotel had not comment, and police said they are reviewing the video.
