An illegally parked livery cab led police to a grisly discovery in the Bronx just before dawn on Sunday morning. Police officers spotted cab driver Moises Martinez, 52, parked on the sidewalk in front of his apartment and told him to move. He just circled back to the same spot and seemed nervous, so police questioned him. The officers entered the apartment he shared with 29-year-old Yajaira Reyes, an NYPD traffic enforcement agent, and asked to speak with her. Sources tell 1010 WINS’s Carol D’Auria that Martinez said they couldn’t because he had killed her, and pointed toward a large trash bin where police found her body.

Martinez, who has one prior arrest for stealing a car, was charged with murder and manslaughter. Reyes’s cause of death has yet to be determined. Neighbors say the couple fought frequently and were raising four children, who are currently visiting their grandparents in Florida. “She’s a young woman and I always told her ‘stay away.’ He had control of her,” one neighbor told D’Auria.
