The twisted true story of Nick Brooks got darker today when a New York City jury found the 27-year-old guilty of second-degree murder in the killing of his girlfriend, Sylvie Cachay. The 33-year-old fashion designer was found strangled and partially clothed in a bathtub at the exclusive Manhattan club Soho House in 2010, the end of a turbulent relationship. Around the same time, Nick’s father Joseph Brooks, the Oscar-winning composer of “You Light Up My Life,” was charged with 127 counts of sexual abuse against aspiring actresses, as detailed in the New York story of a deeply troubled father-son dynamic, “The Curious Case of Joseph and Nicholas Brooks.” Joseph Brooks committed suicide in 2011.
