Yesterday, San Diego Mayor Bob Filner asked the city to pay his legal bills as he fights sexual harassment allegations from eight women, and while the City Council won’t vote on that incredibly ballsy request until later tonight, they’ve made their feelings on the matter pretty clear. The council voted unanimously today to sue Filner to recover any legal fees incurred by the city, which is being sued along with the mayor by his former communications director. “If Bob Filner engaged in unlawful conduct and the city is held liable, he will have to reimburse us every penny the city pays and its attorney fees,” said City Attorney Jan Goldsmith. Filner is also the target of two recall campaigns, but surely he’ll be able to smooth things over with a two week stint in therapy.
