New Yorkers Prefer Disgraced Hooker Patron to Guy They’ve Never Heard Of

NEW YORK, NY - JULY 08: Former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer collects signatures from citizens to run for comptroller of New York City on July 8, 2013 in New York City. The first real poll (Daily Intelligencer conducted a highly unscientific poll earlier this week) of the comptroller’s race since Eliot Spitzer entered it on Sunday shows the former governor beating Manhattan borough president and longtime state assemblyman Scott Stringer by nine points among Democrats, 43 percent to 33 percent. Obviously it’s great news for Spitzer that, despite all the hooker sex and whatnot, voters are still willing to give him a second chance, but a large chunk of the electorate remains undecided, and his unfavorable rating is twice that of Stringer’s.

For what it’s worth, the public remains almost perfectly split over whether Spitzer (illegal sex with prostitutes) committed a more offensive sin than Anthony Weiner (sending crotch-shots to women on the Internet). Make of that what you will.
