The Giants’ star wide receiver Victor Cruz does not want George Zimmerman to be targeted by “the hood.” Cruz apologized yesterday after deleting the above tweet — which some took as a call for extra-legal violence — and clarified that he was merely making an observation, not an endorsement:
The funny thing is, none other than Robert Zimmerman, brother of George, made pretty much the same point as Cruz’s original tweet. Brother Zimmerman told CNN over the weekend that George will be “looking around his shoulder for the rest of his life,” wary that “vigilantes” will “want to take the law into their own hands as they perceive it.”
