Read the Unhinged Anonymous Letter Left for an Autistic Teenager’s Parents

In a twisted version of the sorority girl e-mail, an anonymous Canadian became the most reviled person on the Internet today by expressing awful opinions about an autistic neighbor. In a letter meant for Ontario’s Karla Begley, “one pissed off mother” wrote, “You have a kid that is mentally handicapped and you consciously decided that it would be a good idea to live in close proximity to a neighborhood like this???? You selfishly put your kid outside everyday and let him be nothing but a nuisance and a problem to everyone else with that noise polluting whaling he constantly makes!!!” It goes on like that, but worse.

YouTube-famous angel sisters Lennon and Maisy (of Nashville and “Cups” fame) posted the letter to their Twitter account, where it has since collected more than 5,000 retweets and gone viral. “A close family friend has an autistic boy and this was an anonymous letter slipped under her door,” they wrote. “This is real.” Read the whole thing above, if you can stomach it.

More gut-wrenching still is watching Begley react to the ugliness directed at her 13-year-old son, Max. (The letter was left at Begley’s mother’s house, where the boy stays during summer mornings.) Neighbors have come out in support of Max, while police investigate; the family hopes to press charges.
