After those suspicious signatures wound up on City Councilwoman Maria del Carmen Arroyo’s petitions to get on the ballot, she blamed the workers collecting them for the mishap, and said the only thing she was guilty of was “trusting people too much.” According to her own description of how well she knew said workers, it’s true: She’ll trust just about anybody. “I couldn’t pick them out of a lineup,” Arroyo said, though, according to the Daily News, one has worked for her for “more than a decade.”
