For President Obama, golf is a treasured respite from the stresses of dealing with the world’s most obstinate legislative body. But even out on the course, surrounded by friends and/or lackeys, Obama is constantly reminded that there are limits to the president’s persuasive powers. For example, despite lifting up his right knee really high yesterday during a putt at Martha’s Vineyard’s Farm Neck Golf Club, Obama was unable to will the ball into the hole. Obama has also tried the leg raise in negotiations with John Boehner, and it usually doesn’t work with him either, although it’s reportedly what sealed the deal to avoid the fiscal cliff in January.
