The latest Anthony Weiner controversy is so lacking in actual scandal that you’d think he’s Bill de Blasio. While campaigning in Astoria, Weiner put campaign fliers in several mailboxes and was quickly informed that he violated postal regulations. “While Anthony was careful to leave the fliers mostly outside the boxes, he will cooperate fully in any investigation of ‘mailboxgate,’” said spokeswoman Barbara Morgan, adding, “I think that if it’s not all the way in, it’s okay.” The Post got a freebie there, but didn’t rest on its laurels, noting that “Weiner inserts his own campaign fliers,” and the law doesn’t state “how far nonstamped mail can permissibly penetrate.”
