Banksy’s Nazi-Adorned Thrift Store Painting Bagged $615,000 for Housing Works

One of Banksy’s more unexpected artworks during his New York tenure was called The Banality of the Banality of Evil, which consisted of a Nazi painted into a pastoral oil painting the artist bought from, and then gave back to, Housing Works. The charity, which fights homelessness and AIDS, auctioned the painting off Thursday for a final price of $615,000. They also got $50 for the original painting a couple months ago. Bonus!
