The most notorious part of Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s latest anti-smoking legislation, the plan to require stores to keep cigarettes out of sight of customers, won’t actually be part of the final law, the New York Post reports. “Administration officials agreed to toss the controversial proposal as a compromise during negotiations with the City Council, which is expected to pass the revised plan as early as this week.” But the plans to enforce a $10.50 price floor and raise the smoking age to 21 are still part of the package.
