It’s entirely possible the painting at left, a 1939 Norman Rockwell work called Sport, was not stolen from Welpak Art Moving and Storage. Perhaps the painting got shipped in place of another work by accident, or stored in the wrong place, or eaten by goats. But it’s more likely the painting, which sold for $1,085,000 in a May Sotheby’s auction, was stolen. Whatever happened to it, police are asking for the public’s help in finding it, and Welpak Art Moving and Storage, from which the painting disappeared, is having a very, very bad day.
