Citi Bike Expanding to More Rich Neighborhoods

The Department of Transportation “plans to announce the timeline for expansion soon,” growing the successful Citi Bike program from 6,000 to 10,000 bicycles. But according to the New York Post, new stations are planned for the Upper West Side, Upper East Side, Park Slope, and Cobble Hill, doing nothing to fight the perception — and stats — that contend the program is catering only to well-off white people. It’s a business, sure, but the map says it all.
