CNN Hiring Brian Stelter Away From New York Times

The Los Angeles Times reports that CNN is in “advanced negotiations” with New York Times media reporter Brian Stelter to hire him as a replacement for Howard Kurtz, who left the network earlier this year. Joe Flint writes that “two sources close to the situation, who were not authorized to speak publicly on the matter, confirmed the talks.” Stelter will host Reliable Sources, according to the report, as well as stay on his Times beat of TV news for the channel’s website. The young reporter has already been guest-hosting the show, so it’s hardly virgin territory. According to Flint, “an announcement of Stelter’s hiring could come as early as this week.” (Update: Politico says the deal is done.)
