Of the nearly 50,000 people who chose to torture themselves by running the New York City Marathon this morning, 32-year-old Mutai and 29-year-old Jeptoo ended their own misery the fastest. Mutai, who broke records when he won the race in 2011 (last year’s marathon was canceled because of Hurricane Sandy), took the men’s title by clocking in at two hours, eight minutes, and 24 seconds. Jeptoo came in first among the women with a time of two hours, 25 minutes, and seven seconds. It’s safe to say that both are in much, much better shape than you are.
