Rob Ford Offers to Take On-Air Drug Test During TV-Show Premiere

Most TV shows do not start out with a five-minute news segment recapping the host’s worst sins, but in light of Alec Baldwin’s suspension, MSNBC might want to think about it. Though the first installment of Ford Nation, the Sun News Network program hosted by Rob Ford and his brother Doug, kicked off with the footage of the Toronto mayor admitting to smoking crack, but only “in one of my drunken stupors,” he’s still pretending people are mainly concerned about his weight. “Give me some time and if you don’t see a difference in, lets say four or five months … if I’m not down a few pounds and … you know,” said Ford, trailing off at the most important part of the sentence.

The show was taped over the weekend, and by the time it aired Monday night, Ford had already been stripped of his remaining mayoral powers. But it appears Ford is still refusing to give up his title. “If you think American-style politics is nasty, you guys have just attacked Kuwait,” he told groaning council members Monday. “And you will never see something – mark my words, my friends, this is going to be outright war in the next election, and I am going to do everything in my power to beat you guys.”

Sun News Network posted Ford Nation’s premiere in its entirety, but since Ford repeated himself frequently during the hour-long broadcast, the segment below should suffice. (Though, check out clip three to see Ford compared to a list of political “drunks who kill,” like Ted Kennedy.) While he continues to insist he’s not an addict, Ford said, “I haven’t touched a drop of alcohol in three weeks – a drop,” volunteering, “I’ll take a urine test right now.” He didn’t, but the fact that the mayor peeing in a cup in front of TV viewers seems entirely plausible says a lot about him.
