Mayor Bloomberg announced on the radio this morning that a high school in Bed-Stuy, Boys and Girls HS, will be renamed in honor of the recently deceased Nelson Mandela. This school in particular has a special connection to Mandela — the anti-Apartheid crusader visited it in 1990 during an eight-city U.S. tour five months after his release from prison.
