New Ads to Encourage Certain Subway Riders to Stop Driving Everyone Else Crazy With Their Blaring Headphones

Well, technically, the campaign is intended to warn New Yorkers that frequent, direct exposure to loud music can lead to hearing loss. But the decision to place the ads on the trains, as opposed to anywhere above ground — where people also constantly wear headphones but cannot force others to endure the muffled strains of whatever Katy Perry song they’re listening to on repeat — does not seem like an accident.
