In the wake of the news of Target’s massive security breach, luxury retailer Neiman Marcus announced on Saturday that cyber thieves had also stolen and used some of its customers’ credit-card data during the holiday shopping season. A spokeswoman said that the store had “begun to contain the intrusion and have taken significant steps to further enhance information security.” She also said that the shoppers affected by the hack were being notified, though she declined to say how many there are. However, it’s probably safe to say that Neiman Marcus’s victim list is shorter than Target’s 70 million–person toll, if only because way fewer people shop at Neiman Marcus than Target.
