In a move Saturday Night Live jokingly called “Obama’s big gay middle finger,” Billie Jean King was chosen for the administration’s official U.S. delegation to this year’s Winter Olympics — one that included neither of the Obamas nor Joe Biden. Though the tennis great had to back out of her duties at the last minute due to her mother’s failing health — Betty Moffitt died the day of the opening ceremonies — King told the AP she will make it to Sochi after all and “will use this trip to honor the memory of my mother and to further my mission of equality.” King joins the White House’s closing ceremony delegation headed by Deputy Secretary of State William Burns. Weekend Update should be excited.
