Fog was so thick in Sochi on Monday that two Olympic events, the men’s mass-start biathlon and snowboardcross races, had to be postponed. It was the second day in a row the biathlon start was pushed back, though fog lifted enough later in the day that the women’s race was able to go ahead at 7 p.m. It was frustrating to have to wait, but biathletes generally like to see the targets they shoot at, so nobody was advocating the organizers green-light the race anyway. “It’s the Olympics, we want to have the best rider win and not have anything screwy,” snowboardcross rider Nate Holland told the Associated Press. Surely the anticipation will make this all so much sweeter.
