“When I want to communicate with a foreign leader privately, I type or write the letter myself, put it in the Post Office and mail it, because I believe if I send an email, it will be monitored,” Carter told NBC’s Andrea Mitchell on Sunday. A few years ago, that kind of comment from an 89-year-old man — even one who was the 39th President of the United States — might have made people wonder if he was starting to lose it, but now it just sounds like common sense.
