According to a recent announcement by Staten Island borough president James Oddo, “More than 75 percent of island residents are overweight or obese, they’re more likely to smoke than other New York City dwellers, and they’re 33 percent more likely to have heart disease.” To combat the issue, Oddo has hired the Albert Einstein College of Medicine’s Dr. Ginny Mantello who, as the area’s wellness director, will be charged with showing residents that “lifestyle choices can make all the difference.” We’ll do our part to support the effort by not making any jokes about Staten Island.
