Word from the White House that Big Papi’s publicity stunt could be “the end of all selfies” was, of course, an exaggeration. Press Secretary Jay Carney clarified today that “there’s no discussion of a ban” at the White House. Senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer meant that “humorously,” Carney added. There’s no way the Obama presidency could weather that kind of national unrest.
