
“My release was as unexplained as my capture,” writes the journalist in his first account of being kidnapped by pro-Russian forces for “not reporting in a correct way.” Ostrovsky says he was “blindfolded, beaten, and tied up with tape … accused of working for the CIA, FBI, and Right Sector, the Ukrainian ultra-nationalist group,” but “had it pretty easy, because I was let go.” He names others, including reporters and politicians, who have not been so lucky.
