The 14th floor office of NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton was sealed for an hour today when an envelope showed up containing a second folded envelope full of potentially suspicious white powder. Hazardous material officers investigated — 2013 was the year of ricin, remember? — but this wasn’t your average domestic terrorist threat. DNAinfo reports that the letter “had been mailed by a Queens woman who believed her roommate spiked her sugar bowl … She mailed it to Bratton so the NYPD could analyze it to see if the sugar contained any hazardous substances.” Police spoke to the poor woman, who will not face charges, and determined she’s not a threat. No word on the roommate.
