An article about Renaissance painter Piero di Cosimo with an opening very similar to a section from his Wikipedia page has been tweaked and amended with an editor’s note stating, “That passage improperly used specific language and details from a Wikipedia article without attribution; it should not have been published in that form.” The Times’ own media reporter quoted spokesperson Eileen Murphy saying editors are “not aware of any other problems like this” in the work of reporter Carol Vogel. No punishment was made public, but “editors have dealt with Carol on the issue.”
