Hackers Reportedly Infiltrate JPMorgan Chase and Other Banks, Steal Account Information

Hackers gained access to at least five American banks in August, including JPMorgan Chase, according to sources who spoke with the New York Times. Though JPMorgan says it hasn’t seen an uptick in fraud since the attacks, checking- and savings-account information was reportedly stolen from the hacked networks.

An earlier report in Bloomberg indicated that the attacks may have been politically motivated and committed by hackers in Russia retaliating for sanctions, but the Times says those claims haven’t been confirmed, and security analysts say it’s too early to know for sure.

Fingers crossed that your rent money doesn’t get siphoned from your account by any sophisticated cybersleuths.
