Man Casually Climbs Brooklyn Bridge to Snap Photos

Two weeks ago, we learned that two Germans placed white flags on top of the Brooklyn Bridge in July as part of an elaborate art project, but a 24-year-old Manhattanite just proved that humiliating the NYPD doesn’t require that much effort. Just after noon on Sunday, Yaroslav Kolchin climbed to the top of the bridge on a suspension beam, snapped a few pictures on his iPhone, then strolled back when police demanded that he come down. He was arrested immediately and is facing charges including reckless endangerment and criminal trespass. On Friday, the NYPD told The Wall Street Journal that it’s considering adding more sensors and trip wires to secure the landmark, so be advised that the window for bridge-related mischief may be closing.
