Following a New York Times feature about the terrible impact its scheduling policies have on employees, Starbucks has vowed to institute new rules that will better benefit its workers. Among the changes, according to the New York Times: There will be more manual input in scheduling from managers, workers won’t be asked to close the store one night and open it the next morning, bosses must determine schedules at least a week in advance, and employees with long commutes will be eligible to transfer to a more convenient location.
