Local News Anchor Mocks Food Stamps, Drops F-Bomb

Because apparently TV newsmen aren’t familiar with the “uncouth local news blooper” YouTube genre, News 12 the Bronx’s Matt Pieper went off on poor people Wednesday morning, thinking, incorrectly, that his microphone was off. Ahead of a segment on crossing guards, the station’s own Mitt Romney recommended, on live television, that “parents do their fucking jobs and walk their little kids to school on their own, and not rely on everyone else. Kind of like people rely on government assistance for their entire lives.” He added, “I mean, how old are these kids?”

I think I qualify for government assistance,” quipped the reporter. “Just check that box, girl,” said Pieper. “EBT,” she added. It’s basically Anchorman, but more offensive to viewers.

The network was forced to apologize on Facebook, and Pieper, an Emmy-nominated anchor, according to his former Twitter bio, deleted his account:

Just imagine the stuff we don’t hear.
