New Jersey Man Accidentally Orders $3,750 Bottle of Wine, Learns Important Lesson in Decimal Points

During a recent business dinner at Bobby Flay Steak at the Borgata in Atlantic City, Joe Lentini asked his waitress for a wine recommendation. She suggested a bottle of Screaming Eagle Oakville 2011, telling him it cost “thirty-seven fifty.” Lentini, who isn’t a big drinker, went ahead and ordered it without consulting the wine list, and was shocked later when the bill showed it cost $3,750 and not $37.50. Lentini complained, and though the restaurant says it was clear about the price, it agreed to lower it to $2,200, which Lentini split with two other diners. Said Lentini to the Star-Ledger of the most expensive wine he’ll ever drink: “It was okay. It was good. It wasn’t great. It wasn’t terrible. It was fine.”
