
New York Times Standards editor Philip B. Corbett has finally called out the paper of record’s staff on its most irritating tic: comparing every single location in the world to Brooklyn. “We now seem to be using Brooklyn as the measuring stick or point of comparison for everywhere,” he writes. “What’s next? Describing Manaus as the Williamsburg of the Amazon? Katmandu as the Cobble Hill of Nepal?” Sounds like somebody is being the Williamsburg of the New York Times.
