George W. Bush Wants People to Know That His Brother Is Thinking About Running for President

With the notable exception of Barbara, the Bushes seem eager to get the American people used to the idea of Jeb running for president in 2016. A couple of weeks ago, the former Florida governor’s son, George P. Bush, said it was “more than likely” that his father will launch a campaign. “If you had asked me a few years back, I would’ve said it was less likely,” he added. On Sunday, another George Bush — W. — offered his own take on what his brother is thinking.

I think it’s 50-50,” said Bush on Face the Nation. “[Jeb] and I are very close. On the other hand, he’s not here knocking on my door, you know, agonizing about the decision. He knows exactly, you know, the ramifications on family, for example. He’s seen his dad and his brother go through the presidency. I would give it — I’d give it a toss-up.” While W.’s odds are a bit more conservative than P.’s, this still sounds like a family preparing to attempt a presidential hat trick.
