Florida Finally Beat New York at Something

Florida, a favorite retirement destination for elderly Northerners of a certain faith and the hard-fought battleground of many a presidential battle, has finally achieved its greatest goal: Its population has topped that of New York’s for the first time ever. As of July, the Sunshine State was home to 19.9 million people, while New York had just 19.7 million. California and Texas still hold the top two slots. And, as for the 1 in 10 new Floridians originally from New York? They’re welcome back as soon as the sea waters start rising.
