A former Delta baggage-handler has been accused of trafficking weapons from Atlanta to New York, working with an accomplice to smuggle firearms onto passenger flights. Eugene Harvey, 31, allegedly teamed up with another former Delta employee, Mark Quentin Henry, to carry out the operation. Harvey reportedly used his clearance to avoid detection, packing 18 guns — seven of which were loaded — into a backpack and leaving it in a restroom in Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Henry then picked up the bag from the men’s room and carried it onto a December 10 flight bound for JFK Airport. Authorities arrested Henry in New York, and he admitted that he brought some non-TSA-approved items onto his flight. Harvey was arrested later in Atlanta. Federal officials believe this wasn’t the first time the two sneaked weapons onto planes, and they have reportedly linked Henry to 129 smuggled firearms.
