Outgoing Senate majority leader Harry Reid kicked the new year off with a bang — literally. The 75-year-old Nevada senator fell off a piece of exercise equipment at home, breaking “a number of ribs” and some facial bones, too, days before he officially relinquishes his leadership post to the new Republican majority. (And ahead of his tough 2016 re-election battle.) “Senator Reid will return to Washington this weekend and be in the office Tuesday as the Senate prepares to reconvene,” a statement from his office said. “His doctors expect a full recovery.” Too bad that New Year’s resolution has to be put on hold.
