The 2016 Democratic primary race is (sort of) heating up! While potential Republican candidates have been trash-talking each other for years, former Maryland governor Martin O’Malley has been ignoring questions about Hillary Clinton, who’s as much as 50 points ahead of him in the polls, according to Politico. But on Sunday O’Malley made headlines by lobbing a mild and obvious insult in Clinton’s general direction. “I think that our country always benefits from new leadership and new perspectives,” he said on ABC’s This Week. “Let’s be honest here, the presidency of the United States is not some crown to be passed between two families. It is an awesome and sacred trust.” Yet monarchy sounds a lot more exciting than democracy right now.
