Mayor Bill de Blasio hosted a bunch of progressive leaders at Gracie Mansion on Thursday, in the hopes that they’d be able to think up a liberal, income-inequality-focused version of Newt Gingrich’s “Contract for America” before the 2016 election. De Blasio, who could probably hear the brains of pundits across the country thinking “But, what does it mean?” made sure to say that this event did not mean he was planning on upgrading his political status anytime soon. “I intend to run for re-election as mayor of New York City, that’s the only thing I’m running for,” he said, as everyone went back to wondering what Elizabeth Warren was thinking.
