
In a statement issued today by the White House, President Obama announced his intention to remove Cuba from the State Sponsor of Terrorism list, which tracks countries that “have repeatedly provided support for acts of international terrorism.” According to Deputy National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes, “Put simply, POTUS is acting to remove #Cuba from the State Sponsor of Terrorism list because Cuba is not a State Sponsor of Terrorism.” Cuba has been on the list since 1982.
