The workers tasked with cleaning up the site of last week’s deadly crash seem to have finished the job early. While Amtrak previously said service between D.C. and Philadelphia would be restored on Tuesday, the company just announced that the trains will start running again on Monday morning: “Effective with departures from Philadelphia at 5:53 a.m. (Train 110) and New York City at 5:30 a.m. (Train 111), all Amtrak Acela Express, Northeast Regional and other services resume.” Investigators still don’t know what caused the accident, but at least the tens of thousands of people who rely on Amtrak to travel up and down the East Coast won’t have to start the week by struggling through an alternative commute.
