According to DNAinfo, police arrested a man who sawed down three trees on the Upper West Side on Thursday. His getaway vehicle was a child-size scooter. When someone asked the man what he was doing, he replied, “You’re a punk-ass bitch,” according to a criminal complaint cited by DNAinfo. “People are devastated at the loss of trees and scared that we have such maniacs here,” Aaron Biller, president of the neighborhood group, Neighborhood in the Nineties, said. After a similar tree crime on the Upper West Side in March, DNAinfo reported that residents had created a shrine around the injured tree, leaving “poems, flowers, and candles.”
