The MTA sent out this apocalyptic tweet from its NYC Transit account this afternoon:
The MTA said trains were mostly up and running around 2 p.m., except for the 1, 2, and 3 trains and the 4, 5, and 6 lines, which were suffering extreme delays because of extensive signal problems. But then, around 2:45 p.m., a slew of other train lines decided to join them with signal issues:
Shortly before 4 p.m., the MTA beamed out some relatively good news:
But the universe wouldn’t let New Yorkers off that easy:
Around 5 p.m., the official start of the evening rush, the heavily affected 1, 2, and 3, and 4, 5, and 6 lines are still backlogged with “residual delays” which, according to riders, is a euphemistic descriptor for regular old delays. The C and E are also having some difficulties, thanks to signal problems at Canal Street.
