In 1974, Stephen Hawking posited that black holes may not be quite as black as we once imagined. But there’s been no physical proof of what’s been dubbed “Hawking radiation.” Until now, that is. Jeff Steinhauer, a physicist at the Israel Institute of Technology (Technion) in Haifa recently created an analog black hole, and made a fascinating discovery that supports Hawking’s theory.
