Donald Trump’s foul mouth appears to be rubbing off on his running mate, buttoned-up Evangelical Mike Pence. At a rally Monday night ahead of the vice-presidential debate, Pence explained what a great time he’s having watching Trump court controversy and continually emerge from it “stronger than ever before.” Then he said, “This shit really is fun to watch, I’ll tell you what.”
This might seem out of character for Pence, but it’s actually a pretty smart move. He’s going to be in the limelight for about 24 hours of this campaign, and every person talking about that time he said “shit” is one fewer person talking about how he wanted to force Indiana women to hold funerals for their aborted fetuses.
