The Seth Tobias Case: Now With Voodoo!Late on Friday, the brothers of Seth Tobias, the New York hedge-fund manager who drowned in his swimming pool in Palm Beach this past September, filed a motion to bar his ex-wife, Filomena, a.k.a. Phyllis Tobias, from collecting any of her husband’s $25 million estate. The brothers allege that Tobias was preparing to divorce his wife and that she feared it might mean an end to her “hugely expensive” lifestyle. “Seth was worth substantially more to (her) dead than he was alive, and she knew that,” their attorneys told CNBC. Meanwhile, Tobias’s ex-aide, a former pimp named Bill Ash, and his attorney, Debra Opri (whose former clients include Larry Birkhead and Pamela Bach, the ex-wife of David Hasselhoff), have been claiming Filomena confessed to Ash that she drugged Tobias and lured him into the swimming pool with promises of kinky sex with a male go-go dancer named Tiger, and now they’ve elaborated on even that: They’re saying Filomena hired a Caribbean voodoo priestess named Madam Simbi M’Arue to put a spell on her husband before his death. And as anyone who has ever seen The Serpent and the Rainbow knows, when a voodoo is involved, no one is safe! Ash told the Daily News today that Filomena had paid the priestess $18,000 “to put a curse on me recently so I would die,” before he was able to testify. Wow. Money, greed, go-go dancers, murder, and now voodoo? You can’t make this shit up. Or can you? Filomena’s lawyer calls the claims “nonsense.” Did we mention her lawyer is also her ex-husband? Seth Tobias Wife Was Involved With His Death, Aide Says Bill Ash, a former assistant to Seth Tobias, the hedge-fund manager and CNBC analyst who was found dead in his pool in September, has passed a lie-detector test, in which he swore that Tobias’s wife, Filomena, confessed to him that she murdered her husband by stirring Ambien into a “spicy” pasta sauce, then coaxed him into their pool, telling him, “If you eat [all the pasta], I’ll call Tiger [tattooed go-go dancer, escort, and porn star, pictured at left] to come over for some kinky sex.” Ash has been saying for months that Tobias was murdered by his wife, but his insistences have been rather drowned out by his record, which includes eleven arrests, for prostitution and writing bad checks. Ostensibly, he’s hoping the lie-detector test, news of which he distributed by press release, will clear his, uh, good name. Filomena Tobias’s lawyer continues to deny the allegations. “We’ve tried to take his deposition three times under oath [in the probate proceeding over Seth’s estate],” he told the Daily News today of Ash. “He failed to show up.” Ash e-mailed New York this morning to say that’s not exactly true, that he just asked for an extension, and moreover and that Tobias’s lawyers have actually tried to block his testimony by filing motions that “attack” his credibility: “They are trying to block me for giving a deposition!” he said. “They are telling the press I won’t be deposed, but they are filing motions to try to block me … They have been hitting the roof.” Widow Drugged Money Mogul, Aide Says [NYDN] Earlier: Daily Intel’s Coverage of Seth Tobias

Seth Tobias’s Tiger Roars AgainWe had been feeling a little bit guilty about the growing sordidness of the story of Seth Tobias, the Park Avenue–based hedge-fund manager and CNBC talking head who was found dead in the pool of his Palm Beach mansion in September and who was later revealed to have not only a trophy wife called Filomena (real name: Phyllis), who may or may not have killed him, but also a gay go-go dancer lover known as Tiger (left). But today Rush and Molloy spoke to Tiger, whose real name is Christopher Dauenhauer, and, once again, we cannot look away. The last time Tiger was asked about Tobias, he seemed kind of foggy on who he was. “He may have been this one guy I went with to the horse races,” he’d said. “Did we have sex? I’m assuming we probably did.” Today, his memory seems to have improved: “He put on some weight since we used to hang out,” says Tiger, who apparently speaks in the short, clipped sentences favored by authors of pulp detective novels. “We definitely had sex. He may have talked about me with Filomena during his drug binges. I may have been the only guy he’d ever been with. He may have thought I was his boyfriend. She may have gotten jealous.” We expect sales of Tiger’s seminal film Roar of the Tiger are going through the roof. A wild Tiger tale in Tobias death [NYDN] Related: Intel’s Coverage of Seth Tobias
