Willie Garson Drops ‘SATC’ Hints at Project A.L.S. BenefitAt last night’s Project A.L.S. tenth-anniversary gala, Jennifer Hudson was “preserving” her voice by not speaking to reporters. But we managed to slightly raise the veil of secrecy on the Sex and the City movie by hurling questions at Willie Garson, who plays Sarah Jessica Parker’s gay BFF, Stanford. After he described a recent scene to a horde of shouting journos with, “No! I can’t give it away. I’d have to kill you,” we slipped in our query: Why did Big miss the wedding, as paparazzi shots of the set would have you believe? “I can’t tell you that either!” Garson said. Then he caught himself. “What wedding? That’s how I’m supposed to answer — what wedding?” Did we detect some gossip in there? Anyway, Garson tried to assure us that the movie is a whole big lovefest, too (even though we didn’t ask). “We actually shot a scene last night with all of us sitting around a table, and it was like the Last Supper,” he said. “It was absolutely ridiculous that we were all sitting there together. It was completely surreal.” Again, we feel like we detect some gossip in there. —Bennett Marcus How smart is Jennifer Hudson? Why are celebrities moving from L.A. to New York? Steven Webber and Julianna Margulies have all the answers at our complete coverage of the Project A.L.S. tenth-anniversary gala.

Viggo Mortensen: Still ChillyEastern Promises screening. Tribeca Grand, 2 Sixth Ave., nr. White St., 8:30 p.m. Stars Viggo Mortensen, Naomi Watts, and Vincent Cassel scheduled to attend along with director David Cronenberg. “Dinner and dancing” to follow at the Soho Grand penthouse. In the film, Viggo Mortensen’s tattoos tell the chilling story of his conscienceless character’s criminal past of unspeakable horrors and men he has killed. In real life, Viggo Mortensen’s tattoos tell the chilling story of which downtown luxury hotels have served him subpar salmon appetizers. May we all pray for the sake of our children and our children’s children that he does not add one tonight.

Jodie Foster in Yet Another Movie Where She Kills PeopleThe Brave One premiere. Rose Theater, Time Warner Center, 1325 Sixth Ave., nr. 53rd St., 7 p.m. Stars Jodie Foster and Terrence Howard are expected. The movie involves Foster’s character shooting the hell out of anyone who does her wrong. It’s similar to our life, if you replace the shooting with meekly walking away and thinking of a mildly cutting remark a couple hours later.

Elah Is Not Just a Rihanna Song Lyric• Save the Children 75th Anniversary Celebration. Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center, 6 p.m. Expected: Bill Clinton, George Bush Sr., Melinda Gates, Samuel L. Jackson, and more. Maybe it’s still too soon to revive a certain movie-based joke meme from last summer, but we don’t care — we just want these motherfucking snakes out of this motherfucking fund-raiser!!!

Monica Bellucci to Beautify Union SquareIconic America party. MoMA, 11 W. 53rd St., nr. Sixth Ave., 9:30 p.m. Expected guests include Duncan Sheik, Tommy Hilfiger, Debbie Harry, Sean Lennon, Alicia Witt, and a smattering of socialites. Iconic America is a book co-written by Hilfiger and George Lois. We await a look at the jacket cover: Did Hilfiger have the courage to overcome his crippling modesty and allow the publisher to put his name in really big letters on something that he made?

Alek Wek: Still Smiling, TryingGlamour Fashion Gives Back. Aglow Studios, 421 Broome St., nr. Crosby St., 8 p.m. Scheduled guests include Amanda Peet, Emily Mortimer, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Catalina Sandino Moreno. Quite a collection of actressing talent… you could probably get a one-hour family drama picked up on a major network based entirely on footage of conversations that take place tonight in the women’s bathroom.

Gandolfini, Falco, Turturro Reunited!Romance & Cigarettes American premiere. Chelsea West Cinemas, 333 W. 23rd St., nr. Eighth Ave., 6:30 p.m. Writer-director John Turturro will be there; so will stars James Gandolfini and Bobby Cannavale, plus Edie Falco, Bebe Neuwirth, Aida Turturro, and others. Romance, a musical comedy set in working-class New York City, was finished a few years ago and is finally being released, just in time for our joke about how foolish it is to make a musical about working-class types to be ruined by the $100 million-grossing Hairspray.

Like a Virgin• Virgin American Airlines LAX–JFK launch party. The Box, 189 Chrystie St., nr. Stanton St., 9 p.m. Expected guests include David Schwimmer, Sir Richard Branson, Jamie Lynn Sigler, Sir Joey Fatone, and Sir Evan Rachel Wood. A fun game for kids: Figure out which two of the three uses of the honorific “sir” in that last sentence were inaccurate. Or check out our Agenda listings for tonight, selected by New York’s culture editors.

Chinchilla Lingerie• Chill Out With Chinchilla cocktail party. Parker, 1021 Madison Ave., nr. 79th St., 8 p.m. Expected guests include hippie socialite Arden Wohl and her sister Joselyn. What happens at a “Chill Out With Chinchilla cocktail party”? One presumes that the chinchillas are plied with gin-and-tonics and whatnot until they get loose and start telling crazy chinchilla stories and engaging in ill-advised chinchilla hookups. Then they’re killed and worn on upscale clothing.

Tennis, Anyone?• U.S. Open kickoff event. Xchange at the Terminal Stores, 640 W. 28th St., nr. Eleventh Ave.., 7:30 p.m. Expected: Maria Sharapova, Steve Nash, Eddy Curry, John Starks, and more. But where are the rest of today’s hottest tennis stars? Why, they’ll be living it up at the…

The Hunt Is OnThe Hunting Party premiere. Paris Theatre, 4 W. 58th St., nr. Fifth Ave., 6:30 p.m. Sponsored by the Observer; expect the party stylings of stars Richard Gere, Terence Howard, Jesse Eisenberg, and James Brolin, along with sundry others like James Gandolfini, Sebastian Junger, and Joe Klein. The movie’s a thriller about a ragtag team of journalists chasing a disappeared war criminal around Europe. But in the end, he turns out to be a war criminal with a heart of gold and falls in love with Richard Gere. Or Jared Kushner. Magazine Party on the Threshold of HellHamptons magazine party for Andy Roddick. Tenjune, 26 Little West 12th St., nr. Washington St., 7 p.m. Expected to be on hand: Mr. Roddick, James Blake, Jimmy Connors, and others. Fun fact: Nick Kroll, the gentleman who played Andy Roddick’s mojo in a 2005 American Express commercial, is a star of the new ABC series Cavemen. One of the other cavemen is played by Bill English, whose only film credit is a movie called Beach Party at the Threshold of Hell. Or check out our Agenda listings for tonight, selected by New York’s culture editors.

Fake Man on CampusIllegal Tender premiere. Chelsea West Cinemas, 333 W. 23rd St., nr. Eighth Ave., 6 p.m. Director John Singleton and star Rick Gonzalez will be in attendance. Gonzalez may be best known for his role as “Spanish,” one of the undergrads who helped badger Will Ferrell’s Old School character into marriage-destroying acts of beer-funneling. In Illegal Tender, he plays a college student who metes out vigilante justice in order to defend his mother and siblings. Truly, no actor living today has been involved in a more disparate variety of unrealistic cinematic collegiate situations. Or check out our Agenda listings for tonight, selected by New York’s culture editors.

‘The Closet’ Comes OutTrapped in the Closet Chapters 13–22 premiere. IFC Center, 323 Sixth Ave., nr. W. 3rd St., 7:30 p.m. The second installment of R. Kelly’s “mega-hit urban operetta” is being released online this week, and the man himself is celebrating with a party. The press release says these new chapters will offer “brand-new characters and plot twists that will shock and delight.” It does not say, however, who other than R. will attend. Or check out our Agenda listings for tonight, selected by New York’s culture editors.

Eighth Ave., 6:45 p.m. Director Justin Theroux and stars Billy Crudup, Mandy Moore, and Amy Sedaris will be there. Crudup plays a grouchy children’s-book author, and Moore plays the children’s-book illustrator that his publisher forces him to work with. Might sparks fly between the pair? We will alert you as soon as the Daily Intel Romantic-Comedy Seismograph reports any evidence of flirtation.

Are You Ready for Some Football?• Madden NFL ’08 launch party. ESPN Zone, 1472 Broadway, nr. 43rd St., 11 p.m. This year’s version of the beloved game officially goes on sale at midnight; expected guests tonight include football notables Marshall Faulk and Eric Dickerson in addition to Lil’ Jon, Nick Cannon, and the Philadelphia Eagles cheerleaders. Incidentally, the Eagles may have America’s most homonymic cheerleading team: Members include “Janipher,” “Jennifer,” “Victoria,” “Vittoria,” “Kristie,” and “Kjerski.” These are really their names.

You Furnish the Screening, and We’ll Furnish the Wisecracks• Gen Art screening of Delirious. Tribeca Grand, 2 Sixth Ave., at White St., 7 p.m. Writer and director Tom DiCillo will attend, along with stars Steve Buscemi and Callie Thorne. Buscemi played a journalist in Interview and plays a paparazzo here. What next? An egomaniacal publisher who longs for his childhood sled? Or check out our Agenda listings for tonight, selected by New York’s culture editors.

‘Superbad’? Supergood!Superbad screening. UA 64th and 2nd, 1210 Second Ave., nr. 64th St., 7 p.m. College Humor is throwing this party and gave away 100 tickets to the event. Don’t have one? If you’re young, scruffy, and have a clever T-shirt, you might make the cut. Or check out our Agenda listings for tonight, selected by New York’s culture editors.

Those Nerds Are a Threat to Our Way of LifeRocket Science premiere. Regal Union Square Cinemas, 850 Broadway, nr. 13th St., 7 p.m. Rocket Science is the feature-film debut of director Jeffrey Blitz, the man behind the seminal 2002 spelling-bee documentary Spellbound. He will attend with the young actors who play members of a high-school debate team in the movie. With a documentary about spelling bees and a feature about debate under his belt, Blitz need only write a comic book about SAT-prep classes to complete his Aspiring Ivy Leaguer Trilogy.

God Must Have Spent a Little More Time on These Parties• Party for Eli Halili of Agas & Tamar jewelry. Donna Karan’s Urban Zen, 705 Greenwich St., nr. Charles St., 6:30 p.m. Debra Messing hosts! And Eric McCormack! With whom she’ll exchange zany gay jokes while sharing a huge apartment on the Upper West Side! Well, no. Actually just Grace. Plus, allegedly, Donna Karan, Christy Turlington, Glenn Close, Ellen Barkin, Alicia Keyes, Mariska Hargitay, Iman, Bernadette Peters. And apparently no men.

Sporks for Comedy!• The Night Before The Ten. Blender Theater at Gramercy, 127 E. 23rd St., nr. Lexington Ave., 7 p.m. Not to be confused with The Ten’s premiere party last week, this is a musical-comedy spectacular hosted by director David Wain and featuring Janeane Garofalo, Michael Showalter, Rashida Jones, and numerous singer-songwriters. Frankly, the time has come to develop a more efficient word than “singer-songwriter” to denote a solo musician who writes his own material. We suggest “singwriter,” “versechorusologist,” or “spork.” Or check out our Agenda listings for tonight, selected by New York’s culture editors.

Looks Like the Law Won AgainJoe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten screening. 601 W. 26th St., nr. Eleventh Ave., 8 p.m. The event is sponsored by Interview, IFC First Take, and Hugo Boss, and takes place on a private rooftop; expected guests include Moby, Vanessa Carlton, and the Misshapes. Truly, if the Clash stood for anything, it was jet-setting corporate-sponsored celebrity exclusivity.
  24. party town
Stanley Steamer Wasn’t Invited• Rasa Music party. ABC Carpet and Home, 888 Broadway, nr. 19th St., 7 p.m. Expected guests: Deepak Chopra, Amy Sacco, and Donna D’Cruz, the “DJ and President” of Rasa Music, whose motto is “where Spirituality, Sensuality & Style Converge.” Fine, but why does the convergence take place in a carpet store? Or check out our Agenda listings for tonight, selected by New York’s culture editors.

We’re Only Going if Peter Dinklage DoesUnderdog premiere. Regal E-Walk Stadium 13, 247 W. 42nd St., nr. Eighth Ave., 6 p.m. Stars Jason Lee, Amy Adams, and Patrick Warburton are expected. The talking dog that plays Underdog won’t be there, because apparently there aren’t any dogs that can really talk. Which means we just lost a pretty big bet to a third-grader. Or check out our Agenda listings for tonight, selected by New York’s culture editors.

On the Trail of the World’s Most Exclusive Book PartyInside the Red Mansion book party. 7:30 p.m. The book’s full title is Inside the Red Mansion: On the Trail of China’s Most Wanted Man, and it’s written by a gentleman named Oliver August. The location of the party is supposed to be a secret except to RSVP’d guests — who include Malcolm Gladwell, Fareed Zakaria, Arianna Huffington, and Moby — but isn’t it obvious how to get there? Just follow Malcolm Gladwell around until he walks into a red mansion. Or check out our Agenda listings for tonight, selected by New York’s culture editors.
  27. party town
The Girliest Girl Who Ever GirledBecoming Jane premiere. Landmark Sunshine Cinema, 143 E. Houston St., nr. Forsyth St., 7:30 p.m. Stars Anne Hathaway and James McAvoy will be present. After appearing in a movie about Vogue and a movie about Jane Austen, there’s really only one way Anne Hathaway could get any more girly: by portraying a pair of shoes in the Sex and the City movie.
  28. party town
We’re Gonna Go Fondle Our SweatersThe Ten premiere. DGA Theater, 110 W. 57th St., nr. Sixth Ave., 7 p.m. The Ten is the latest feature from the good people who brought you Wet Hot American Summer and, more distantly, The State. Expected at tonight’s premiere are stars Paul Rudd, Winona Ryder, Famke Janssen, Gretchen Mol, writer-star Ken Marino, director David Wain, and more. Trying to overcome urge … mustn’t make reference to … contemporary equivalent of quoting Caddyshack … we can’t help it! We’d like to dip our balls in this movie! Or check out our Agenda listings for tonight, selected by New York’s culture editors.

Suing With the StarsDamages premiere. Regal E-Walk Stadium 13, 247 W. 42nd St., nr. Eighth Ave., 6 p.m. Damages is a new show on FX about “high-stakes litigation,” and stars Glenn Close, Ted Danson, and Rose Byrne will be in attendance tonight. But beware! If you slip and fall at the premiere, and then sue FX, you’ll actually be the one liable for punitive damages, under an obscure portion of the 1948 Interstate Irony Regulation Act. Or check out our Agenda listings for tonight, selected by New York’s culture editors.

It Took Four Writers to Make This MovieI Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry screening. Ziegfeld Theatre, 141 W. 54th St., nr. Sixth Ave., 7 p.m. At this “special screening” for the FDNY, expect to see director Dennis Dugan, Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Jessica Biel, Steve Buscemi, and others. Forget World Trade Center — the Bravest’s favorite new movie is about two straight guys pretending to be gay for domestic-partnership benefits. Helmet-slapping hilarious!

Queen Latifah Starts Her StreakHairspray New Jersey premiere. Prudential Hall, New Jersey Performing Arts Center, 1 Center St., Newark, N.J. Expected: Queen Latifah, Nikki Blonsky, James Marsden, Amanda Bynes, and others. Yesterday, we noted that Cal Ripken Jr.’s presence at the New York premiere put his streak of consecutive Hairspray premieres attended at one. Today, the streak is over. And it’s been surpassed by Queen Latifah. We always knew she’d break one of Cal Ripken’s records … but we were pretty sure it was going to be the one for most career home runs by a shortstop. Or check out our Agenda listings for tonight, selected by New York’s culture editors.

Only 2,631 to GoHairspray premiere. Ziegfeld Theater, 141 W. 54th St., nr. Sixth Ave. The huge and eccentric guest list includes John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiffer, Queen Latifah, Christopher Walken, Ralph Macchio (!), Mary J. Blige, Nathan Lane, Phylicia Rashad, Liza Minnelli, Lance Bass, and our personal favorite, Cal Ripken Jr. The Ironman’s streak of consecutive Hairspray premieres attended now stands at one. Where to Go If You Miss Limp Bizkit• Black Light Burns After-Party. Plumm, 26 W. 14th St., nr Fifth Ave., midnight. Black Light Burns is a band fronted by Wes Borland, the former guitarist for Limp Bizkit; guests will include Eve Salvail (a model, they say), co-owner Chris Noth, and “members of Nine Inch Nails.” Perhaps things will get crazy and Chris Noth will end up joining the band? We think he would be adept at playing nails six through eight. Or check out our Agenda listings for tonight, selected by New York’s culture editors.

Buscemi Always Brings the Pigs-in-a-BlanketInterview screening. Tribeca Grand, 2 Sixth Ave., nr. White St., 7 p.m.; after-party at Soho Grand, 310 W. Broadway, nr. Canal St. Director-star Steve Buscemi hosts. Co-star Sienna Miller is also scheduled to attend. The verb “host” usually sounds odd in these contexts: We associate hosting a party with guacamole preparation and frantic bathroom cleaning, things that actors and directors probably don’t often do before film screenings. And yet, Steve Buscemi … We would not be surprised if he were, at this very moment, elbow-deep in bean dip.
  35. party town
Nothing Says Class Like a Box of Veuve• Veuve Clicquot Starlight Yellow Celebration. 7 World Trade Center, nr. Vesey St., 7 p.m. Expected guests include Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Phillip Lim. “Starlight” is Veuve Clicquot’s new line of boxed wine, which comes in three flavors: “yellow” (celebrated tonight), “red,” and “Mango-Cranberry Electrolyte Blast.”
  36. party town
No Parties Today, and No Pool Sigh. Again no parties. And generally overcast weather. And scattered thunderstorms forecast for tonight and tomorrow. And the brand-new, spiffy Floating Pool is broken. (Yes, broken: Apparently some ballast tanks flooded, according to Gothamist, and now the whole thing is tilted. And closed.) We’re starting to think it’s going to be a long summer.

There Are No PartiesThere are no notable parties tonight. This is presumably because everybody except us is out of town someplace. We hope it starts raining on them. There are, however, Agenda listings for tonight, selected by New York’s culture editors.

Rock the Casbah• Qatar Airways gala. Frederick P. Rose Hall, Lincoln Center, 7:20 p.m. Expected: Maggie Gyllenhaal, Peter Sarsgaard, Bryant Gumbel, Chloë Sevigny, Gayle King, and others. The gala is being thrown in celebration of the fact that Qatar Airways now offers flights to JFK. Two Middle East–related parties in New York tonight! (See below.) Which may be more parties than are currently going on in the actual Middle East.
  39. party town
Sushi Parties Are Twice As Fun Without Refrigeration• Ivanka Trump party at SushiSamba 7. SushiSamba7, 87 Seventh Ave. S., nr. Bleecker St., 7 p.m. It’s explicitly a “private party” for Ivanka’s “close friends,” yet it’s also a “celebration” of “SushiSamba 7’s renovated rooftop lounge.” There’s a fancy invite, and Ivanka will be available for interviews. File this one under “unnerving concepts that speak to the modern degradation of borders between the public and private self” in the subcategory “terrifying omens of the way identity and profit motive will merge in the inevitable totalitarian corporate-ocracy.” If you’d like. Or check out our Agenda listings for tonight, selected by New York’s culture editors.

Novak, and others are expected. Coming just after the slacker era of Generation X, “Generation Harvest” consists of 29- to 31-year-olds who dress like Ethan Hawke’s character in Reality Bites but are corn farmers. Or check out our Agenda listings for tonight, selected by New York’s culture editors.

The Kingdom of Robots is at HandEntertainment Weekly “Must List” party. Gotham Hall, 1356 Broadway, nr. 36th St., 7:30 p.m. Among the Musts scheduled to attend: Lily Allen, Ron Livingston, Kal Penn, Aasif Mandvi, Nate Robinson, and more. We try to keep things positive around here at Party Town, but let’s face the facts: “Must List” is a terrible name. It doesn’t make sense, it’s hard to pronounce, and it suggests that there are certain things that people “must” be doing besides preparing for the coming war against the robots, which is just not good planning.
  43. party town
Hot Air Rights Will Cost You• Friends of the High Line summer benefit. IAC Building, 555 W. 18th St., nr. West Side Hwy., 6:30 p.m. Expected: Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon, André Balazs, Barry Diller, Gifford Miller, Ed Norton. A coterie of crazed developers plans to throw up some heinous buildings and block out the sun while the stars are unwittingly swilling Champagne.
  44. party town
Partying Is Such Sweet Sorrow• Public Theater gala performance of Romeo & Juliet. Delacorte Theater, nr. Central Park W. and 81st St., 6 p.m. Expected guests at tonight’s show (which stars Oscar Isaac and Lauren Ambrose) include Tony Kushner, Mike Nichols, Eric Bogosian, and a bajillion famous actors. In other words, the Romeo & Juliet cast are performing what may be the most famous roles in Western history to a private audience of the world’s most accomplished theater professionals. It’s like distributing loaves and fishes to Jesus.

Sixth Ave., 7 p.m. Stars Adrian Grenier, Kevin Connolly, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara, and Jeremy Piven will be there, along with fans and friends like Robert Iler, Serena Altschul, Billy Joel, and Sonja Sohn. So is it patronizing when actors from vastly superior HBO shows like The Sopranos and The Wire come to cheer on your uneven sitcom?
  47. party town
Downer at the ZiegfeldA Mighty Heart premiere. Ziegfeld Theater, 141 W. 54th St., nr. Sixth Ave. A Mighty Heart is an adaptation of Mariane Pearl’s book about the murder of her husband, Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel, in Pakistan. Fox hosts (the “Magnum Festival” will raise money for Parkinson’s research); expected guests include Mark Seliger, Heidi Klum, and Damon Dash. Per Google Maps, various parts of the shore-hugging road on Manhattan’s West Side are known alternately as West Street, the West Side Highway, the Joe DiMaggio Highway, the Henry Hudson Parkway, Tenth Avenue, Eleventh Avenue, and Twelfth Avenue. Why stop there? The freedom to name a stretch of West Side highway, parkway, or avenue should be every New Yorker’s birthright.

The Charity That Jorge Posada Built• Heroes for Hope gala. Pierre Hotel, 2. E. 61st St., nr. Fifth Ave. The event benefits Jorge Posada’s charitable foundation for craniosynostosis. Spike Lee and Derek Jeter will be there. And yet again, A-Rod fails to come through in the clutch for the Jorge Posada Foundation. Boooooooo!

Pushy Famous People Try to Sell You Stuff• “Cartier Celebrates Love” event. The Cartier Mansion, 2 E. 52nd St., nr. Fifth Ave., 6:30 p.m. Expected guests: Elie Wiesel, Spike Lee, Rachel Weisz, Julianne Moore, Djimon Hounsou, Usher, and others. Each of those people are affiliated with a specific charitable cause and Cartier bracelet; every time “their” bracelet is sold, 10 percent of the money goes to the corresponding charity.
