Wilke was a pioneer in sixties and seventies art, using her body as a medium and making early forays into vaginal imagery. She died of cancer in 1993, at the age of 52; fourteen years later, she’s getting the posthumous survey she deserves. The centerpiece: a sixteen-screen video installation of the Intra-Venus Tapes, 19901993, a documentation of the last two and a half years of her life. Constructed from over 30 hours of personal footage, it’s a moving portrait of the artist.
