Dinner and a movie get the mash-up treatment at this Austin import, where you order from your seat, and it’s advisable to get there early to scope out the food and drinks (or be the jerk trying to decipher it with your phone flashlight). While Alamo is a chain, most menu items are specific to every location. Brooklyn gets snacks like popcorn with truffle Parmesan butter, edamame hummus with wonton chips and fried pickles, and more substantial offerings like burgers and tacos. Drink options include basic cocktails, but it’s smarter to pick one of the 30-plus New York State beers on tap or get a boozy milkshake, like the Mexican Hot Chocolate, with tequila, vanilla ice cream, chocolate and a kick from habanero pepper. Discuss the flick after or at least get creeped out in the House of Wax, a bar in the theater decorated with wax figures from the 1800s.
